1969 Chevrolet
Corvette L71
1969 Chevrolet Corvette (Original 427 L71)
Why Is This Car Special
The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. "Stingray" script nameplates appeared on front fenders, now one word, in contrast to the “Sting Ray” name used previously.
Car and Driver magazine wrote, “The small-engine Corvettes are marginally fast and extraordinarily civilized. The large-engine Corvettes are extraordinarily fast and marginally civilized.”
So is the 1969 Chevrolet Corvette we have here at Skyway Classics. It has that long sleek look and the power to back up the look.
1969 Chevrolet Corvette L71 -One of 2722 built -82,581 Original miles -Stored in warehouse in Ft Myers since 1992 -Built on February 22nd 1969 -VIN: 194379S716890 -Lemans Blue w/ Blue Vinyl interior -Auto TH400 -Engine casting #: 3969854 *Non original engine* -402 cubic inch A20 71 (Jan 20th 1971) -T0205CLB Chevelle or Monty Carlo -Heads casting #3993820 -Intake # A19 70 (January 19th 1970) -Engine completely rebuilt 30 years ago per previous owner in 1996. Was properly brought back to life with compression all above 150 psi. -Repainted in the early 90’s prior to covered storage -Zero rust -Has original build sheet in poor condition -Non original rims, I believe they are from 1972
Work done, new parts - Radiator - Air Conditioning added from Classic Auto Air - Fuel system: tank, pickup, rubber lines, pump, and filter - Brake system: calipers, pads, rubber lines, booster and master cylinder - Exhaust system: exhaust manifolds to correct chrome tail pipes completely new - New U joints in axle shafts - Battery - Windshield replaced by previous owner - Bluetooth classic radio with C3 specific size speakers - Interior: Seats reupholstered, dash, carpet door covers, other small pieces - All dash lights replaced with LED’s - Engine tune up: New period correct carburetor, plugs, distributer, all h20 gaskets and thermostat - Shocks, springs, all bushings, all front end steering components, ball joints - Transmission serviced, kick down solenoid replaced - All door weather stripping replaced
Mechanical Specs
The 402 cubic inch V8 (non original engine) in is this car makes a substantial 390 horsepower and shifts through a 3-speed auto transmission. With endless reserves of torque and an attitude that practically invites you to plant your foot on the floor, it's a blast to drive.
Everything appears well done including the black valve covers, intake, Quadrajet Carb, aftermarket air conditioning, power steering and brakes, and stickers on the chrome air cleaner.
It rides on Rally wheels with wide white letter wheels and the car rides and handles well with a traditional Corvette look.
Interior
The mostly original interior continues to look quite nice. It does have blue carpets and door panels, three-spoke wheel, console, automatic, the original gauge package with the large speedo and tach, full auxiliary readout package, heat/defrost controls, and just all just below the radio.
Exterior
Our 1969 Corvette look great in its one repaint of 976 paint with 411 trim it came with but it comes as no surprise that it remains in great condition. The C3s are considered by some as the best looking of the bunch with their chrome bumpers and hidden windshield wipers, and this one is no exceptions.
Conclusion
The 1969 Corvette we have here at Skyway Classics is a great driver and fun to ride and drive and enjoy, plus it is a big block Corvette, who could ask for more.
