1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43

Why This Car Is Special

The restored 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 like the one we have here at Skyway Classics is the model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series made from 1960 until 1984.

This 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 was acquired by the seller in Colombia, where it is said to have been refurbished before being imported to the US. It is finished in red over gray vinyl upholstery, and it is powered by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

Additional equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, locking front hubs, a tan soft top, and a pintle hitch.

FJ40s are simply fun, and highly collectable and had a short wheelbase but these Toyotas proved to be of the great vehicles designed for off-roading.

It is in superb condition, looks great, and in amazing condition and a representation of what it looked like when it was brand new.

Mechanical

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six was factory rated at 135 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.

The drivetrain looks like it is original with the rebuilt 4.2L engine that has shown to be bulletproof mated to a 4-Speed. This FJ runs and drives excellent and goes down the road great and also has lockout hubs installed.

It has the original born with factory air cleaner, power steering and brakes, cast iron exhaust header, redone radiator, and all sitting in a very clean, detailed, and painted engine compartment.

Interior

The interior is all brand new and features front bucket seats and inward-facing rear bench seats upholstered in gray vinyl. Land Cruiser-branded coverings protect the floors. It also has the red matching body color painted dash housing all the correct factory gauges and controls, black steering wheel, grey rubber floor mat, rear cargo area, and the manual stick shifter.

The steering wheel frames a 160-km/h speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level.

Exterior

Our two-door FJ43 is medium-wheelbase version of the FJ40, and this example is said to have been repainted red in 2022. Additional features include a tan soft top, rear mud flaps, dual side mirrors, and a pintle hitch.

All great looking trim, as well as the cargo area which has two grey jump seats to carry your troops to whatever destination you envision.

The example offered here is ready to hit the trails with the all-terrain black sidewall tires mounted on grey steel wheels and chrome hubcaps and a fifth on the spare tire carrier mounted on the rear.
