Why This Vehicle is Special

We have a classic 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo Choo with the limited edition "Choo Choo Package" here at Skyway Classics.

The 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo Choo was a special appearance package that made the El Camino look sportier. Chevrolet contracted with Choo Choo Customs to build the SS version of the El Camino.

"Choo Choo Customs was a vehicle customization/conversion company based out of Chattanooga, TN that began building conversion vans in 1975. Choo Choo Customs first started converting El Caminos into Designer Series SS models in 1983.

Ours features White paint, red/black SS graphics, and SS emblems, chrome bed rail trim, blue cloth seat interior, LT1 type injected engine with an automatic shifter, and polished Boyd’s 5-spoke mag wheels with black sidewall performance tires.

Mechanical

The heartbeat of our Choo Choo is a small block Chevrolet LT1 type fuel injected V-8 Engine and automatic transmission.

It resides in the factory looking engine compartment and has the red fuel rail cover, injected engine, polished valve covers, vintage air conditioning, ram open air cleaner, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, coated headers flowing back to the dual exhaust, electric fans for the radiator, some show polished and chrome add-ons, and rides on chrome polished Boyd’s 5-spoke mag wheels with black sidewall performance tires.

Interior

Our interior is done in a blue with a blue cloth and vinyl interior featuring twin front bucket seats with a console and the matching rear seat and blue carpet, factory dash with all the correct gauges, air conditioning, automatic shifter in the console, and blue El Camino floor mats.

All interior components are in good shape and look great and include a Tilt Steering Colum and black/polished custom Steering Wheel, Power Windows and Locks, and a stereo radio system.

Exterior

Our El Camino is painted in white paint over the straight body panels and bed with SS graphics on the front and SS emblems on both sides, a SS style hood, a set of chrome upper bed rails, plus the rear lower bed panel with the taillights inserted, that was all part of the Choo Choo Package.

Conclusion

This classic 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo Choo we have here at Skyway Classics was offered by Chevrolet dealers from 1983 to 1987 with only 861 Choo Choo El Caminos that were produced in 1987, so this is a rare one.

It has the small block Chevrolet V-8 Engine and an automatic transmission that gives it more power and drive ability than some other earlier El Caminos.
