Mechanical

Under the hood rests a 239 cubic inch Flathead V8 engine with 95 horsepower with the engine block, heads, and intake painted in blue sporting what we believe all the restored factory components on it that it had back when it was new! It has the factory black air cleaner, blue painted valve covers, factory exhaust, converted to 8-volts, and the engine sits in a very clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment and the underneath and chassis is also re-done and clean.

This Flathead has good power, as well as a terrific ride with a smooth-shifting 3-Speed Manual Transmission, this one is ready to be your favorite cruiser.

Interior

Our 40 has a restored maroon leather split bench seat interior with the matching rear seat and side door panels, factory dash and gauges, maroon factory steering wheel, maroon carpeting and floor mats, seatbelts, heater/defroster, three-speed manual shifter, and a tan convertible top.

This is a quality interior and everything has been done to make this one of the best interiors we have ever seen.

Exterior

This was a quality restoration of a 1940 Mercury Eight Convertible that has spent most of its life in California with the steel body that was a frame off restored build with a very high quality Garnet Maroon paint scheme that has a great gloss and depth that really radiates in the sun light.

The chrome bumpers, trim, running boards, window glass, and everything else must be seen to appreciate this car. It rides on factory stock maroon painted wheels and wide-white wall tires to give it the correct period look too.

Conclusion

The restored 1940 Mercury Eight Convertible we have for sale here at Skyway Classics is a superior restoration of a rare classic.

Great Experience -
“ Great experience. Contacted Al on car that I was interested in. I flew in and checked out car and all was well. He even fixed a few extra items that needed attention as well. He delivered car prompt and all was great. Would recommend him for any of your classic car purchases. ”
