1970 Plymouth Road Runner

Why This Car Is Special

The Plymouth Road Runner was a mid-size car with a focus on performance built by Plymouth in the United States between 1968 and 1980.

The Road Runner was based on the Chrysler B platform (the same as the Belvedere and Satellite), as a back-to-basics mid-size performance car. The Road Runner of 1968-1970 was based on the Belvedere, while the GTX was based on the Sport Satellite, a car with higher level trim and slight differences in the grilles and taillights.

The standard engine was still the 383 first offered in 1968. The 440 Six Barrel remained an option for 1970. But if you wanted the “King Daddy” under the hood, the 426 HEMI and its 425 Horsepower was your choice!

Only a handful of these Hemi vehicles were ever produced and they are very costly!

We have a real value of a solution here we have one at Skyway Classics. A 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Hemi that has had a date coded and correct 426 Hemi engine transplanted for a fraction of the cost.

Mechanical

It now has a transplanted 426-cid Hemi engine in it with the Air Grabber hood and orange air cleaner system, chrome valve covers, aluminum intake, Power Steering and Power Front Disc Brakes, Mopar Performance 7.5mm Premium Magnetic Spark Plug Wires, Dual Exhaust System with Chrome Exhaust Tips, backed by a A727 Torque Flite 3-Speed Automatic Transmission, and rides on 15-Inch Wheels with F70-15 Goodyear Redline Tires backed by a A727 Torque Flite 3-Speed Automatic Transmission.

Interior

The interior on this rare bird is spartan with a Black Bucket Seat Interior, Center Console with Shifter, Factory AM Radio, the Fresh-Looking Dashboard and Gauges, and a Tic-Toc-Tac.

It has a floor console with woodgrain and the chrome automatic shifting the heavy-duty Torque Flite transmission, matching black door panels, black carpeting, and even the Full-Size Spare in black painted trunk.

Exterior

The 1970 model year brought new front and rear end looks to the basic 1968 body, and it would prove to be another success as our looks great in the Dark Green Metallic Exterior with the Bronze Road Runner Graphics.

It also has the Air Grabber Hood with the Chrome Hood Pins great chrome bumpers front and rear, great trim, and has both a mean and aggressive look and sound with that 426 Hemi to back it up.

Conclusion

This 1970 Road Runner here at Skyway Classics is super looking and very fast and will garner respect as a very powerful muscle car anywhere you drive it to!

Great Experience -
“ Great experience. Contacted Al on car that I was interested in. I flew in and checked out car and all was well. He even fixed a few extra items that needed attention as well. He delivered car prompt and all was great. Would recommend him for any of your classic car purchases. ”
