When you pop the hood you will see the 390 cubic inch engine attached to a 'Cruise-O-Matic " transmission that shifts seamlessly going down the road. It is equipped with power steering and power brakes, the factory air cleaner assembly with the 390 orange decal, chrome reservoir tank, chrome valve covers, chrome engine braces, four-barrel carburetor, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, FoMoCo windshield washer filler bag, and sits in a very clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment.
It runs great, has an automatic transmission, has a good sound, and has a great suspension to propel you down the highway as you would expect in a Thunderbird.
This Thunderbird has Kelsey-Hayes chrome wire wheels with wide whitewall tires, and an array of power equipment that includes the tan top.
Interior
Inside is a restored parchment interior with a luxury car look and feel with the twin front bucket seats and the matching rear seats to envelop your passengers, a quite stylish factory dash setup with the dual cowl dash and an aluminum lower section, plenty of aluminum stainless steel, pushbutton radio, full heat/defrost system, power windows, carpeting, and a center console.
The seats look great along with the carpet, door panels, kick panels and dash. The swing away steering wheel works as it should and shows no cracking. All lights, blinkers, wipers and horn work as well as the gauges.
Ford added to the luxury with 12 more pounds of padding for the bucket seats, and doors widened to 51 inches. This Thunderbird is a great car to drive or show, with top up or down.
Exterior
This 3rd generation Thunderbird we have here is a nicely restored California car painted in beautiful Aquamarine paint. This particular 1961 Thunderbird Convertible was purchased from a family in California where it has benefited from an extensive restoration to bring it up to better then new standards.
The beautiful paint is in excellent condition with no imperfections that we have seen. Also all the chrome has been refinished to show quality standards. The same goes for all the moldings bright work.
The parchment convertible top looks great and all top functions work as they should. Inside the parchment interior is all new and in great condition.
