The Denali's standard 420 hp is nothing to scoff at. 560 horsepower is better. The Callaway SC560 GMC Yukon Denali achieves this number by adding a GenThree Supercharger, the same one it uses on the Corvette and Camaro, and a trio of intercoolers to the 6.2L V8. It's paired with a ten-speed automatic and four-wheel drive to get all that power to the road, augmented by options like upgraded brakes, wheels, tires, and handling components.
With the SC560, Callaway has done all anyone could do to wrestle the big bruiser GMC Yukon Denali into the sporty SUV category. Most any SUV that tries to be “sporty” is a lot smaller and lighter: The Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi Q7, etc. That It has largely succeeded is impressive.
First and foremost is Callaway’s three-way supercharger. It’s very similar to the superchargers you’ve seen Callaway put on all 6.2-liter V8 engines like this from Chevy, Cadillac and GMC. That includes Corvette and Camaro. The compact blower and three intercoolers sits in the valley of the V on top of the V8 engine. Charged air from the rotor pack goes up through the primary intercooler then down through two more intercoolers, one on each side of the unit, and thence into each bank of cylinders, where it makes the big bruiser bay at the moon. The result is 560 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque at the flywheel.
Braking, too, was impressive considering how much work was cut out for it. The brakes on Callaways are all very similar, so the brake kit looks a lot like the Corvette brake system. Slotted 380 mm rotors are set front and rear, with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.
Interior
The interior is very clean and looks great with the Tan saddle leather upholstery, factory dash with all the correct gauges and controls, steering wheel, air conditioning, stereo radio, carpet, electronic cruise control, power door locks and power windows. It is so spacious with its three-row seating with plenty of room for all.
Exterior
The GMC Yukon Callaway SC560 Denali is big, the biggest thing General Motors makes since it got out of the locomotive business in 2004. A big GMC has advantages: three rows of seats, mucho cargo space and prestige. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up all hope of performance. That’s why there is an aftermarket. That’s why there’s Callaway.
It is big and bold and even bolder when you see the Callaway SC560 emblems adoring it to tell you that you don’t want to mess with this one.
Conclusion
This 2015 GMC Yukon Callaway SC560 we have at Skyway Classics is a super SUV to drive and enjoy and has as much performance to back it up.
It looks great from top to bottom the under carriage looking good too, and has all the Callaway paperwork too.
