1966 Yellow Ford Mustang Fastback
Why This Vehicle is Special
The introduction of the Mustang in 1964 created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition including Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.
The 1966 Springtime Yellow Mustang we have here at Skyway Classics is the real deal as verified by the Trim Tag Paint Code of 8, and the A Code Engine with a real 289 Cubic Inch engine and 4-barrell carb.
This Mustang is extremely close to factory original, boasting an extensive restoration with a yellow exterior with black interior and much more.
Mechanical
The 289 cubic inch V8 engine puts out 225 horsepower from the factory. Compare that to the base “C” code 289 that puts out 200 and you know this one has a lot more power. Front disc brakes, a quick ratio steering box and large sway bars are all part of the GT package. A 3-speed manual transmission backs up the V8 engine and runs out back to a Ford performance rear end.
It has the correct blue painted block and looks very nice with chrome open element air cleaner, chrome valve covers, performance carb sitting on the factory intake, factory cast iron exhaust headers, and all sitting in a clean and detailed engine compartment.
Interior
On the restored interior, it is all as it was when it was factory original. It has the twin black vinyl buckets up front separated by the classic three on the floor shifter with black cue ball handle and the matching rear seat and door panels.
The instrument panel has all the correct factory gauges, and features a speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and ammeter in five round dials.
It also has the black and polished steering wheel, radio system with an 8-Track system as well, and black carpeting.
Exterior
On the outside, our Mustang wears the gorgeous Springtime Yellow paint job flowing over all the iconic body lines and accented by the full length white racing stripes from wheel well to wheel well on the lower sides.
It has the blacked out grille with fog lamps, side vents on the roof, and out back the unique fuel filler cap on the panel between the tail lamps, with dual exhaust exiting underneath.
Our Mustang rides on the factory styled chrome wheels with a polished lip and center cap on raised white letter B.F. Goodrich Radial TA performance tires.
This wheel and tire combination is totally fitting on this classic pony car, and combined with the square set body, they give this Mustang a stance that is just magnificent.
Conclusion
The 1966 Yellow Mustang we have here at Skyway Classic has about as gorgeous a body as you will ever find, outstanding performance, and these fastbacks have become as collectable as any other car, and probably more so in the future.
