DESCRIPTION

1967 Austin-Healey Sprite

Why This Car Is Special

In 1958, England’s Austin-Healey sports car company launched its tiny Sprite, for the sports car world, it was a newsworthy launch. Austin-Healey was then known for its larger, high-powered sports cars, the “Big Healeys,” as they’d be referred to in relation to the little Sprite.

The 1967 Austin-Healey Sprite like we have at Skyway Classics, was affordable, simplistic, small open lightweight sports car that will be fun for you to drive fun and has a legendary name attached.

Mechanical Specs

Our Sprite has what appears to be the 1275 cc engine producing around 48 hp that it came with new backed by the 4-speed manual transmission. It is a lively motor that has been properly taken care of and still retains the dual carburetors, factory green painted valve cover, factory correct air cleaners, and most other stock parts and sits in a very tidy clean painted and detailed engine compartment too.

These cars were not about speed but about building an honest-to-goodness sports car that anyone with a decent job could afford to buy, drive to work on weekdays, and then race at the track on weekends.

It was cheap at $1795 and simple to work on. Its clamshell hood allowed easy access to the engine and just about every other component forward of the cabin.

Interior

Because a vehicle like this was made to be open to the world, there has been a nice investment in a handsome interior. It has two individual black bucket seats and door panels, the correct three-spoke steering wheel, a commanding view of the factory gauges, the 4-speed gearstick, full roll up windows, radio system, and black carpeting.

The black vinyl interior looks pretty much factory stock with the addition of a custom steering wheel, some performance gauges, newer carpet and door panels, and custom trim.

Exterior

This one just seems to get the factory correct era presentation right with its bright red paint job flowing over the body lines and accompanied by the great chrome bumpers, trim, and grill.

Conclusion

This little 1967 Austin-Healey Sprite roadster that we have here at Skyway Classics commands your attention. You’ll love being the driver listening to the engine revs as you shift the four-speed manual.

It even rides and handles well with the factory correct grey painted steel wheels and chrome hubcaps on black wall performance tires.

Come see and buy this affordable classic droptop for which you will have many miles of fun and enjoyment.
