This 1965 bright red Mustang Convertible we have here at Skyway Classics is a rare 1st generation 1965 with the pony car styling, a long hood and short deck that proved very popular and inspired a host of competition including the Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.
Mechanical
Our Mustang has the optional A Code engine which was a 289 cubic inch with a 4-barrel carb that was listed at 225 horsepower. It is very nicely detailed with a black chrome finned open air filter, correct gold painted valve covers, black intake and engine block, all the correct hoses and wires, accessories, and all sitting in a factory correct, painted and detailed engine compartment and backed up by an automatic transmission.
Interior
It has a fresh factory correct white twin bucket seat Mustang interior with black carpet, white door panels, black and white factory looking dash and gauges, radio, and 3-spoke Mustang steering wheel.
The convertible top looks great as well as the white boot, detailed trunk with its grey mat, spare tire and cover, and even a luggage rack on the trunk.
Exterior
The 1965 Poppy Red paint on our Mustang is factory correct matching the Trim Code and is like new and is complimented by all good chrome, 289 and Mustang emblems, correct Ford Mustang mag wheel covers, wide-whitewall tires, great bumpers, and the great looking convertible top.
The underside is also clean, painted and detailed and newer suspension parts like shocks, springs, a single exhaust system that turns down under the chassis.
