Why This Car Is Special

“Eleanor” was a customized Ford Mustang that was featured in the 1974 film “Gone in 60 Seconds.” That “Eleanor” was the only Ford Mustang in history to receive star title credit in a movie. The ”Eleanor” name was reused for a Shelby Mustang GT500 in the 2000 “Gone in 60 Seconds” remake starring Nickolas Cage.

That Mustang from Cage’s film sold for $1 million at a Mecum Auction in 2013. You don’t have to spend a million to get an impressive “Eleanor” though as we have a version here at Skyway Classics that is one of the nicest builds we’ve ever seen. No expense spared, and every nut and bolt is either new or refinished on this car. It is as clean underneath as it is on top. It has classic looks with modern steering, suspension and brakes.

Mechanical

Let’s start with the engine, this Mustang has a built 428 cubic inch big block Ford which has been modified top to bottom and has an aluminum intake, performance carburetor, reworked ignition, Cobra air cleaner, Cobra Jet 428 valve covers, new brackets and pulleys on the serpentine belt drive, 4-wheel power disc brakes, air conditioning, power steering, Milodon oil pan, turbo type mufflers, dual performance exhaust, and much more.

The powerhouse is backed up by a manual transmission with a Hurst chrome shifter and linkage with a “Go-Baby-Go” Nitrous Button and runs to a Ford 9″ rear end with adjustable coil over shocks and performance suspension. The front end is also running adjustable coil over shocks. This car drives more like a 2020 Mustang than a 1968.

Interior

The interior is all new and is a great cockpit to pilot this rocket ship of a Mustang. The bucket seats up front fit nicely and match the rear seat and door panels as well. The dash is transformed with performance gauges, a real signed dash by Carroll Shelby, stainless accents, Shelby badging and a Shelby style steering wheel.

An AM/FM stereo system has been installed cleanly into the dash and seat belts make for a safer ride. Behind the front seats is a fold down rear seat as all flooring is black with black floor mats to.

Exterior

The Eleanor body kit used on our Mustang looks great with the addition of the front molded fiberglass and the rear spoiler as the whole car is painted in the grey paint with GT500E white racing stripes running down both sides and the middle of the car over the raised hood scoop.

The bumpers have been painted to match and almost disappear from a distance. Shelby badging, molded side pipes with side exits, quick fill fuel cap and sport mirrors complete the look from the outside. Shelby oversize wheels look great and help make this Eleanor Mustang look good from every angle.
