Ours has the original and rebuilt 427 cubic inch engine, rated at 390 horsepower, with its #3916321 early 1968 390 horsepower only big block engine stamping that shows how rare it is, as well as the original date coded and rebuilt Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel, and also the correct #3919849 390 horsepower aluminum intake it sits on.
This great original engine retains most all of its parts including the most tower-top hose clamps, the correct fuel lines and linkages, chrome air cleaner with a 390 horsepower decal, chrome factory valve covers, power brakes, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds and the dual exhaust system, factory chrome original distributor shielding, and even the original factory SMOG pump and system too!
It is all sitting in the original but restored engine compartment and has a great sounding dual exhaust system and a M21 4-speed transmission, this Corvette steers and stops like a sports car should.
These Corvettes are smooth riding and put the power to the ground with an inverse leaf spring independent rear suspension. The 68 model has vacuum operated flip up headlights and a vacuum operated windshield wiper cowl.
Interior
Our Corvette has an original but great stock Medium Blue twin bucket seat interior, with the matching new blue carpet, center console, and original blue factory dash with its gages and factory tach, matching blue door panels, and blue seat belts.
The original Delco radio resides above the console as well as the stock gauge package with the Fiber Optic lights above the 4-speed chrome factory shifter and you will notice the factory wood steering wheel too.
Exterior
The exterior is the original #976AA Lemans Blue which also matches the Build Sheet to show it is the original color it was born with. That shade of blue is really pleasant and looks good with the chrome accents, bumpers, and Chevrolet Rallye Wheels with BF Goodrich Radial TA raised white letter tires that provide a classic and clean look.
The curves on C3 Corvettes are famously loved and the working flip up headlights add to the sports car appeal as well as the dual chrome exhaust tips exiting the rear that look that sound great.
It has the mean looking domed factory 427 hood, side scoops, and is topped off with a great black convertible top too.
Conclusion
If you're looking for a Time Capsule of a 427 Corvette Convertible with the original 427 cubic inch engine, blue interior, and 4-speed transmission, we have it here for you at Skyway Classics.
It is a rare and reasonably priced chrome bumper C3 Corvette, wears the great color combination for a Corvette, and will always hold its value should you ever decide to sell in the future.
