The ’79 (5th digit of the Vin # is K code verifies that this was a real T/A with the 6.6 403 Olds engine installed and it still looks stock as it was back when it was delivered.

It has a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, blue painted engine block, heads, and intake, cast iron exhaust manifolds that feeds into dual exhaust before it exits out the rear tips.

Our engine sits in a very clean and detailed engine compartment with the correct shaker hood scoop, air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, High Energy Ignition System, Hurst shifted Automatic Transmission, Differential Limited Slip, and the Custom Alternator Heavy Duty 63 Amps alternator.

Interior

Our 1979 TA has the Special Edition Trans Am option that consisted of the Hatch Roof-Removable Gold Cast Aluminum Wheels-7 Inch Special Interior Appointments-Gold Special Exterior Appointments-Gold Special Stripes C Emblems-Gold Hood Decal Spoiler, Rear Deck Steering Wheel, Formula Steering Wheel, Tillt Wheel Color Gold Windshield Wipers, Controlled Cycle Custom Trim Group-Custom Velour Bucket Seats-Velour Rear Seats-Door Handle Ornamentation-and Pedal Trim Package Custom Interior Appointments.

Exterior

Our ’79 model featured from Pontiac a freshly redesigned nose and tail sections, both molded from a new, softer plastic material, front and rear spoilers, and wheel opening spoilers, all covered in the sharp Starlight Black exterior paint.

The front end sports quad headlamps recessed into individual tunnels, while the blacked-out split grilles were repositioned below the lamps; turn signal/running lamps were recessed into the grilles.

The tail panel appeared to be one continuous blacked-out unit with the taillamp lenses flanking the centrally positioned fuel-filler door, cloaked in matching trim.

It has air extractors on the front fenders as they had since the ’70 model, with a large Firebird on our TA’s hood.
