Mechanical
With the front-midship placement of the all-aluminum DOHC 5.9-liter V-12 with 450 horsepower and the automatic transmission moved to the rear axle, the DB9 enjoys an ideal 50/50 front/rear weight distribution. A full 85 percent of the car's mass is within the wheelbase.
The Aston 12 makes power the old-fashioned way, without variable valve timing or variable-length intake manifolds. A full 85 percent of the engine's torque is achieved at 1500 rpm. It has twin electronically controlled throttles and large-bore stainless-steel dual exhaust.
The resulting sound is as delicious as anything Ferrari or Lamborghini has to offer.
The engine has been dropped down in the chassis to lower the center of gravity. Forged-aluminum control arms front and rear and aluminum coil-over shocks help reduce unsprung weight.
The car corners nearly flat with the large alloy factory wheels and fat tires and large-diameter Brembo four-piston monobloc calipers

Exterior
The main body structure of our DB9 is painted a pleasing blue shade that utilizes carbon fiber, extruded aluminum and composite materials that are bonded together to form a central safety cell in a process also used in the aerospace industry.
Aston Martin says its lighter, stiffer and stronger than conventional body construction that utilizes bolts or welding. The automaker also claims it provides improved crash protection.
It has side vents and a large grille that is flanked by bold auxiliary driving lamps and the V12 looks superb. The front fenders and hood panels incorporate finely detailed compound curves that sweep back to steeply raked windshield pillars and a low, curving roofline.
Conclusion
This 2005 Aston Martin DB9 we have at Skyway Classics is a factory original car in flawless condition. This V12 is like a great wine, as it will only appreciate in value as it gets older.
Do yourself a favor and buy something you will enjoy driving, and will help your wallet in the future too.
