Extremely Clean and Low Miles 2009 Ford Shelby GT500

History
The Shelby Mustang is a high performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1968, and from 1969 to 1970 by Ford. Following the introduction of the fifth generation Ford Mustang in 2005, the Shelby nameplate was revived as a new high-performance model, this time designed and built by Ford.

Shelby and Ford returned for the 2007 model year with the Shelby GT500. Introduced at the 2005 New York International Auto Show, the GT500 uses a 5.4L Modular 500 horsepower supercharged V8 engine. Features include suspension tuning, a body kit, and 18 inch factory mag wheels and performance tires.

A collaboration of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and Carroll Shelby, the GT500 was produced in limited quantity for three years of approximately 10,000 units per year on the line at Ford’s Flat Rock, Michigan assembly facility.

Ford’s 2009 Shelby GT500 is ample evidence that the Blue Oval has gone and grown its iconic and beloved coupe into a real sports stallion. No longer a mere muscle car, the GT500, finally, sports a horsepower rating fitting of its name for 2009, and it can sprint, slow and handle in style.

Features & Options
The triple black 2009 Shelby GT500 Coupe we have at Skyway Classics looks ”Bad In Black,” with its ghost stripes, spoilers and emblems. It seriously has the power to back it up, too. The grill is massive and includes a wide and tall air inlet along the bottom with a chin spoiler and the bulging hood provides functional heat extractor vents. The Shelby’s rear decklid has a discreet spoiler and the rear bumper has a Shelby specific valance.

The GT500 uses a Roots type supercharger, rather than the twin-screw unit in the to make 500hp and 480 ft-lbs of torque. It fills the large engine bay and effortlessly propels the two door coupe down the road.

The Tremec six-speed gear ratios are well spaced and the Shelby’s first gear is tall enough to take it to 60 mph. The lack of a shift in the all-important 0-60 dash allows the Shelby to complete that sprint in just over 4 seconds.

The Shelby sounds about as it good as it goes with a pleasant and characteristic Mustang rumble at idle. As revs build though, the rip of the exhaust is met and then overtaken by a high pitched and wicked supercharger whine.

The 2009 Shelby GT500 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with precise and instantaneous Brembo brakes, road-gripping performance tires, and a sport-tuned suspension.

The interior is black and grey with gray-backed gauges complete with SVT logos. The list of standard features include power windows, locks, mirrors, and driver’s seat, cruise control, Shaker 500-watt speakers, and a 6-CD changer with MP3 jack.
