1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza

Car History The Chevrolet Corvair was a compact car manufactured by Chevrolet for model years 1960-1969 in two generations. A response to the Volkswagen Beetle, it remains the only American-designed, mass-produced passenger car with a rear-mounted, air-cooled engine.

The name “Corvair” originated as a portmanteau of Corvette and Bel Air, with the “air” part referenced the engine’s cooling system.

We have a great 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza here at Skyway Classics with the 164 cubic inch air cooled engine, dark blue paint, chrome wire wheel hubcaps, chrome exhaust, pushbutton radio, and a manual4-speed transmission for less than the price of a new car.

Features

1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible

164 cubic inch rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six engine 4-speed manual transmission Black factory air cleaner system New exhaust Cooling fans Factory dual carb system and intake Performance exhaust Neat, clean, painted and detail engine compartment Blue bucket seats Matching back seats and door panels Factory dual cowl dash that borrows styling from the Corvette factory dash Gauges and instruments Stainless trim Original radio Blue carpets Wood steering wheel Original radio 4-speed shifter with white shifter ball Dark Blue paint White convertible top Steel wheels with chrome wire wheel hubcaps Thin white sidewall tires

Mechanical

Under the hood beats a 164 cubic inch 95 horsepower rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission.

Chevrolet put in the Corvair something truly different. The rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six motor is set up for a lower center of gravity, and some Porsche-style handling fun, has a large rev range, looks as it did back when it was new with the black factory dual carb air cleaner system, electric cooling fans, carb system and intake, and performance exhaust.

It sits in a very neat, clean, painted and detailed engine compartment and looks like it did back then while riding on the steel wheels with chrome wire wheel hubcaps with thin white sidewall tires.

Interior

The interior on this Corvair consists of the blue bucket seats and matching back seats and door panels, the factory dual cowl dash that borrows styling from the Corvette factory dash with all the gauges and instruments, stainless trim, blue carpets, wood steering wheel, original radio, and 4-speed manual shifter with a white 4-speed shifter ball under the dash. Exterior

Corvairs always turn heads wherever they go and this one does too with its rust-free body painted in shiny dark blue paint and white convertible top. It has a nice mix of European and American styling to give it a nice sports car-like appearance as well as having nice chrome front and rear bumpers, Corvair badging, and exhaust tips.

Great Experience -
“ Great experience. Contacted Al on car that I was interested in. I flew in and checked out car and all was well. He even fixed a few extra items that needed attention as well. He delivered car prompt and all was great. Would recommend him for any of your classic car purchases. ”
