1970 Black Chevrolet SS El Camino

What Makes This Car Special

Chevrolet El Camino is a coupe utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959–1960 and 1964–1987. Unlike a pickup truck, the El Camino was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body while production resumed for the 1964–1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform.

Most collectors think the 1970 SS El Camino, like the one we have here at Skyway Classics, is the most desirable body style of all. It received sheet metal revisions back then that gave the bodies a more squared-up stance and the interiors were also redesigned.

This restored 1970 Chevrolet SS El Camino has been restored and has a 350 cubic inch small block powerplant, shiny black paint with white stripes, and plenty of Super Sport attitude.

Mechanical

When you lift the hood on our El Camino you will find a 350 cubic-inch small block Chevy V8 engine that looks just like it was advertised in 1970. The sits inside the sharp painted and detailed engine compartment.

The 350 motor has the four-barrel carburetor on top of an aluminum intake, with tube headers, Flowmaster dual exhaust system, open air cleaner system, chrome Chevrolet valve covers, Factory air conditioning, and power steering and brakes.

If you look at the undercarriage photos you'll see that the engine and tranny sends the power back to a 12-bolt rear end with heavy duty shocks and springs. It also has the right stance with the Cragar chrome SS 5-spoke mag wheels with fat BF Goodrich TA Radial white-letter performance tires on all four wheels.

Interior

The El Camino has the twin black front Bucket Seats and matching rear seat and door panels, factory Console with the horseshoe factory shifter, factory Tach and gauges, air conditioning, Custom Auto Sound audio system, Comfort grip steering wheel, black carpet and El Camino floor mats.

Exterior

The 1970 El Caminos share the same single-year front end as its Chevelle sibling, and the iconic look will always be in demand. Ours has the great restored black shiny PPG basecoat, clearcoat paint that has been sanded and buffed with a ceramic coating. This is like a brand new 1970 El Camino with an estimated $85,000 spent on restoration

The paint has with great luster and fine body fitment and the Cowl induction hood, white stripes cover the cowl-induction hood with its hood pins, and the blacked-out SS grille and rear panel, new chrome bumpers and trim, and even a bed protected by a liner.

Conclusion

The very nice 1970 Chevrolet SS El Camino we have at Skyway Classics is very well done and will make the new owner a great cruiser to add to the collection. It has had a full restoration and it shows it.
