1957 Black Ford Thunderbird

Why This Car Is Special

The Ford Thunderbird was a rear wheel drive automobile which was manufactured by Ford in the United States over eleven model generations from 1955 through 2005. The Thunderbird created a market niche that eventually became known as the personal luxury car.

The restored 1957 Ford Thunderbird we have at Skyway Classics is in gorgeous Raven Black with the bright red interior, with the D-Code 312 cubic inch engine, white Soft Top and a Black Porthole Hardtop, and the chrome wire wheels shod with white sidewall tires, looks as it did when it was new.

Mechanical Specs

Ours has what looks like an original engine compartment with all the factory correct hoses, clamps, windshield washer bag, power brakes, and accessories as well as what we believe to be the factory correct D-code 312 cubic inch V8 with 4-barrell carb engine which had become the Thunderbird’s standard engine, and now produced 270 horsepower in 1957.

It has the dress up kit with the correct finned valve covers, the automatic transmission that shifts perfect, and the engine also has a chrome air cleaner gets fresh air through the fully functional hood scoop.

The exhaust system is good and the chassis is largely original looking and it rolls on a set of chrome wire wheels and white sidewall tires.

Interior

You will like the super looking bright red restored interior with the leather bench seat, door panels that match, factory red dash, gauges that are in original condition and look great in the machine turned dash, radio, along with correct red carpets and red covered steering wheel.

Exterior

The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The restored black paint and bodywork on ours as well as the fit and finish are nicely done. The Thunderbird’s famous “porthole” hardtop comes with the car as well as the bright white convertible top.
The graceful fins and body lines has straight panels and the taillight end caps round out the rear end of the car. Other details like the Thunderbird badges, rear bumper with integrated exhaust outlets, and the fender skirts are all great.

Our trunk is outfitted with all the factory mats and spare tire and wheel and makes a great presentation.

Conclusion

The restored black 1957 Ford Thunderbird we have at Skyway Classics is fun to drive anywhere and enjoy the iconic look as well as the looks you will get just on that “Porthole” top.

This Thunderbird is a remarkably classic car. A staple in any real car collection, this particular model bears a documented rotisserie restoration that presents well despite its age.
