The introduction of the Mustang in 1964 created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang's styling, with its long hood and short deck, fastback roof styling, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition including Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.

The restored 1966 Black Mustang Fastback we have here at Skyway Classics came with a C-code code 289 cubic inch when it was new, but ours now has been restored and has been modified into a hotter and more powerful 289 Hi-Po with 271 horsepower, slick black paint with a restored black Interior, iconic Fastback roof, and fat tires with 10-spoke chrome wheels.

Mechanical

Ours has a 289 cubic inch with 271 horsepower and you can certainly feel and hear that power.

It has aluminum finned valve covers, chrome open element air cleaner, four-barrel carb, performance red spark plug wire set, modified distributor, aluminum intake, headers, blue painted engine block and heads, power steering and brakes, and it sits in the clean and detailed engine compartment.

It is backed by the 4 Speed Top Loader Transmission with Hurst Shifter, performance dual exhaust system, Front Disc Brakes, Posi Rear, a Special Wiring Harness, Shelby Traction Bars, and a tower brace crossover rod.

You will love grabbing the gears in the manual transmission with the power going to the fat black sidewall tires with the 17 Inch chrome 10-spoke American Wheels.

Interior

The interior is all as it was when it was factory original but is now restored and looks better than new with the twin black vinyl buckets up front, fold down storage area behind, factory dash and door panels, Hurst floor shifter in the floor console, the wood and chrome Mustang sport steering wheel, instrument panel that has all the gauges, Am /Fm Radio with Bluetooth and USB Speakers, and the black carpets.

Exterior

On the outside, our Mustang wears the great black paint job flowing over all the iconic fastback body lines and accented by the red side racing stripes, blacked out grille with the Mustang emblem prancing on the front end, and out back the unique fuel filler cap on the panel between the tail lamps, with dual exhaust exiting underneath.

It has a fiberglass hood and scoop and side scoops to further give it that awesome race car inspired legend of a look.
