The very nice 1965 restored Poppy Red Mustang Fastback we have here at Skyway Classics is a rare 1st generation 1965 with the pony car styling. It has the long hood and short deck that proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition including the Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.

It is an A-Code Mustang as listed in the Vin# and has been repainted the original color of Poppy Red.

Our Mustang has the optional A Code engine which was a 289 cubic inch with a 4-barrel carb that was listed at 225 horsepower but now has a 302 cubic inch small block Ford engine with a lot of improvements including the aluminum heads, chrome open air filter, chrome valve covers, aluminum intake and performance carb, painted engine block, all the correct hoses and wires, accessories, performance exhaust manifolds, blue performance spark plug wires, and all sitting in a factory correct, painted and detailed engine compartment with chrome engine and shock tower braces.

Interior

The restored interior has great black Mustang twin front bucket seats with matching black rear seat, black carpet, floor mats, and door panels, great dash with all the factory instrumentation and an accessory tach on the column, Mustang logo radio, black/chrome 3-spoke sport Mustang steering wheel, chrome console with the chrome 4-speed shifter and white shifter ball, and pristine chrome and stainless trim.

Exterior

The fresh 1965 Poppy Red paint on our Mustang is very nice and is complimented by all good chrome, Mustang emblems, aftermarket white/polished 5-spoke wheels, raised white-letter BFG Radial TA performance tires, and great chrome bumpers.

It has the Mustang white racing strip down both sides, the iconic louvers on the side of the fastback roof, chrome dual side mirrors, great glass and trim, and dual exhaust giving it as good a sound as it looks too.
