1961 Chevrolet Corvette
Why This Car Is Special
The 1961 Chevrolet Corvette we have here at Skyway Classics is a perfect example of the high-performance Corvette for that year. It is an all-numbers matching Corvette with only 29k original miles and has been garage kept, cranked on a weekly basis, and driven only on sunny days and never during the rain.
It is exceptional overall with impeccable paint, 283 cubic inch engine 270 horsepower version with dual 4's, a 4-speed manual that shifts perfectly, has the high performance big brakes, and both tops, convertible and hard top.

Our 1961 Corvette has what the owner states is the original born with drivetrain starting with the 283 cubic inch engine that has the 270 horsepower version painted Chevy Orange on the block and heads, with dual 4-barrel carbs under the chrome air cleaner, finned aluminum script Corvette valve covers, chrome distributor shielding, a generator, ram's horn factory Corvette exhaust manifolds and the dual exhaust system, and sits in a restored and very detailed engine compartment with all the factory components looking like you just drove this Corvette off the showroom floor.
It is backed by a newly rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission that shifts perfectly, has the high-performance big brakes, battery cutoff switch, new master cylinder, 4 new drum brakes, and brand-new battery.
It rides on steel wheels with the correct chrome spinner hubcaps and wide white sidewall tires to give it the correct look, ride, and stance.
Interior
Coordinated black buckets are the right choice with our Corvettes Ermine White paint and that's what ours has with its black twin bucket seats that have a comfortable, inviting look, matching door panels, factory dash and instrument panel with the factory full array of gauges, including a correct tachometer mounted atop the steering column, the 4-speed shifter on the floor with its T-grip and white shifter ball, pushbutton radio, clock, black carpeting, crossed flags floor mats, black factory steering wheel, grab handle, rear view mirror, with all in great shape.
And, we know it's odd seeing a trunk lid on a Corvette, but our 1961 has one with a nicely finished cargo bay and carpet as well as it having both a white hard top and a vinyl soft top.
Exterior
The 1961 Corvettes were a sneak-preview of the upcoming 1963 Stingray, and offered the slick ducktail rear end and the round taillights that are a Corvette trademark to this day.
Ours has the two-tone Ermine White with Silver side coves paint scheme that emphasizes the Corvettes dramatic curves and sharp creases.
The fiberglass is in great shape, it has the chrome front and rear bumpers, side cove trim, Corvette badging, and received 90 out of 100 points at the Cigar City Concours d'Elegance by NCRS judges.
Conclusion
It is your chance to buy a rare 1961 Corvette you can drive and enjoy today, this one we have here at Skyway Classics is the one for you.
