1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible Tribute

Why This Car Is Special

The Plymouth Road Runner is a mid-size car with a focus on performance built by Plymouth in the United States between 1968 and 1980. Plymouth developed the Road Runner to market a lower priced, basic trim model to its upscale GTX.

We have a sharp blue 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible Tribute that looks and drives very original here at Skyway Classics. It was built to emulate the purpose-built muscle car by Plymouth that was meant to go fast while retaining a spartan look and interior, meaning less weight and frills.

Mechanical

It is powered by the Plymouth performance built 440 cubic inch V8 engine with a four-speed manual transmission shifted by the long chrome shifter and wood handle.

The 440 is painted in Hemi Orange, with an aluminum intake, Factory valve covers, heads and block painted in Hemi orange, Performance plug wires, “Coyote Duster" functional Ram Air cleaner assembly with the correct decals, Factory Cast Iron Exhaust Headers, Dual exhaust, and an Aluminum Radiator, with the engine sitting in an original looking, clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment.

Interior

The Road Runner has a great looking White/Blue vinyl factory looking interior with Bucket seats, Three-spoke sports Road Runner steering wheel with the Beep-Beep Roadrunner horn, the original gauge package, a 4-speed chrome shifter with the wood grip on it, factory wood grain/stainless console, Blue carpet, matching rear seat and door panels, Road Runner emblem on dash, and a Stereo Radio.

It has a lot of originality to this interior and it looks as it did back when it was new.

Exterior

It is painted in a Bright B5 Blue paint scheme with Road Runner scoops on the hood, Front and rear chrome bumpers, Great glass and trim, Road Runner cartoon decals, and that great white convertible top.

It rides on raised white letter Cooper Cobra tires with Cragar SS wheels to give it that period correct look, ride, and stance.

It also has the famous Road Runner cartoon graphics that Plymouth paid $50,000 to Warner Bros.-Seven Arts to use the Road Runner name and likeness from their Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner cartoons (as well as a "beep, beep" horn, which Plymouth paid $10,000 to develop) that our car has.

Conclusion

There were only 769 4-speed Roadrunner convertibles built in 1969 and only 177 surviving '69 Roadrunner covertibles in Galen's Registry to date, so your chances of finding a real one is limited, if you have deep enough pockets to afford one.

The sharp blue 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible Tribute we have here at Skyway Classics is the one you can afford!

“ Great experience. Contacted Al on car that I was interested in. I flew in and checked out car and all was well. He even fixed a few extra items that needed attention as well. He delivered car prompt and all was great. Would recommend him for any of your classic car purchases. ”
