1963 Ford White Galaxie 500
Why This Car Is Special
The early 60's saw the rise of drag-strips and circle track racing and American auto manufacturers were finding out that the more cubic inches and pure horsepower they could put is muscle cars, the more they would win on the racetrack and the street, hence the more of these cars they could sell.
A late production run of 1963 427 Dual Quad Galaxie 500's was Fords answer to the formidable 1963 Chevrolet 409 Dual Quad Impala version and with both rated at 425 horsepower and the fight was on.
We have a 1963 Galaxie 500 2dr Sports Roof Fastback here at Skyway Classics with that engine combo in it that makes it a super car in Ford history.
Mechanical
Our 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 has what appears to be a big block 427 cubic inch engine under the hood topped by dual Holley 4-barrel carburetors, Cobra finned aluminum valve covers and 427 Thunderbird emblem air cleaner, full length tube headers, and sits in a very period correct clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment.
The 4-speed manual gearbox handles the big block's horsepower and out the H.D. rear. The undercarriage shows the details like the dual exhaust, and H.D. suspension as it rides on period correct black painted wheels with factory chrome hubcaps and blackwall tires.
Interior
The red bench seat interior is equally nice. The twin red buckets is sharp and the driver's compartment is as new including the carpets, chrome-accented red door panel, sporty black steering wheel, and the 4-speed shifter.
The dash has the factory gauges, AM/FM radio, clock, nice stainless trim, Autometer tach and accessory gauges, and black Galaxie 500 floor mats.
Exterior
Our Ford is painted in Ford Factory Code M Corinthian White and looks just as much of a sleeper car today as it would have back then.
The body panels look straight and the doors close solid, the chrome and stainless trim is shiny, and the Galaxy 500 emblems on the front fenders as well as the trim and glass looks great.
Conclusion
This white 1963 Galaxie 500 2dr we have here at Skyway Classics with its big block power and 4-speed would have been one of the fastest Fords available in its day.
If you want a big block big body Ford muscle car, this is the car you have been waiting for.
