"Boot-Legger" 1950 Ford 100
The Ford Custom is an automobile which was produced by Ford in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia in certain years from 1949 to 1981.
For the 1949 model year, the Custom nameplate was used for the top trim level in Ford's range automobile. It was part of the completely new redesign of Ford cars after the war. In 1950, it had a 114-inch wheelbase and 196.8-inch overall length. For 1950 the name was changed to Custom Deluxe.
In the early 1950s, many hot-rodders as well as early boot-leggers ran these 1950 Fords with the flathead V-8s as they were not only fast, but durable too.
You don't have to run moonshine to want one of these bad boys, but the one here at Skyway Classics would be more than worthy for the task. When you look at the V8 emblem on the hood, you know you have a real Hot Rod here.
It is painted in black with a black and grey interior. The three speed on the tree is how they came back then with the white gear shift ball and matching steering wheel. It also has a clock, gauges, Max-Aire System, and a few other goodies.
But when you lift the hood you will see the heart of this car, the Ford Flathead V8. The 1948–1953 255 cu in referred to as the model BG, was achieved by use of a 4-inch stroke crankshaft in the 239 cu in 8BA/8RT engine.
The Ford rides on wide whitewall tires on original wheels and hubcaps an gives out a pleasant exhaust note thru the dual exhausts with chrome tips.
If you want to step back to the Hot Rod days of the 1950s, there is no better car than this 1950 Ford we have at Skyway Classics.
