1965 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible
Car History
The Chevrolet Corvair was a compact car manufactured by Chevrolet for model years 1960–1969 in two generations. A response to the Volkswagen Beetle, it remains the only American-designed, mass-produced passenger car with a rear-mounted, air-cooled engine.
The name "Corvair" originated as a portmanteau of Corvette and Bel Air, with the "air" part referenced the engine's cooling system.
We have a great restored 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible here at Skyway Classics with the freshly rebuilt 110 horsepower air cooled engine, black convertible top, wire wheel hubcaps, and an automatic transmission for less than the price of a new car.

Mechanical
Under the hood beats a freshly built 164 cubic inch 110 horsepower rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six engine backed by an automatic transmission.
Chevrolet put in the Corvair something truly different. The rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six motor is set up for a lower center of gravity, and some Porsche-style handling fun, has a large rev range, looks as it did back when it was new with the black factory air cleaner system, electric cooling fans, carb system and intake, factory exhaust, and even air conditioning, which was a rarity!
It sits in a very neat, clean, painted and detail engine compartment and looks like it did back then while riding on the steel wheels with wire wheel hubcaps with spinners and thin white sidewall tires.
Interior
The interior on this Corvair consists of the two-tone white/black bucket seats and matching back seats and door panels, the factory dual cowl dash that borrows styling from the Corvette factory dash with all the gauges and instruments, stainless trim, black carpets, black Chevrolet logo floor mats, factory black/chrome steering wheel, updated stereo radio, and accessory gauges under the dash.
Exterior
Corvairs always turn heads wherever they go and this one does too with its professional restoration that started with the rust-free body. It had Crocus yellow paint applied offset by the black power convertible top.
It has a nice mix of European and American styling to give it a nice sports car-like appearance as well as having nice chrome front and rear bumpers, Corvair badging, and exhaust tips.
It also has a restored front trunk area with the spare tire, wheel, and jack as well as the windshield wiper water bottle.
Conclusion
If you ever wanted a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible like the one we have here at Skyway Classics, then this Corvair is that perfect classic you can pick up without going broke.
