Great 1955 Chevrolet Panel Delivery
History The 1955 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery was an automobile that was made by Chevrolet in 1955. It is considered a huge turning point for the manufacturer and a major success.
The '55 Chevy was the first successful Chevrolet with an optional V8 engine. In 1955, Chevrolet decided to fit its new car with an overhead valve V8 engine design, which was similar to the 1949 Oldsmobile "Rocket 88" V8 engine. The new 265-cubic-inch overhead valve V8 was designed to be smaller, lighter, and more powerful than previous V8s in the auto industry.
Additionally, Chevrolet drastically changed its body design. It had smooth straight panels on the sides and hood, wrap-around glass on the windshield, and triangular tail lights that jutted outward. And this new look, combined with new power and engineering, made the '55 an instant hit with the buying public and a critical success.
One of the models was called a Sedan Delivery. It was a 2-passenger Chevy, with 3 windows, and a panel delivery wagon in the rear.
That is what we have here at Skyway Classics, a 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery Project Car.
Features & Options The One-Fifty was mainly conceived as a fleet model. It was most popular with police, state governments, small businesses, economy-minded consumers, and business owners. The Chevrolet Sedan Delivery, was part of the One-Fifty line. The only body styles specific to the One-Fifty were decidedly fleet oriented, the sedan delivery (a 2-door wagon without rear windows and the rear seat removed.)
This is a rolling parts project with solid Sedan Delivery body and frame that has been started as a restoration and comes with a whole lot of parts in numerous boxes and in the rear. Take a look at all the parts in the pictures we have post to get a better idea what you are getting.
Those parts include radiator support, windshield, trim parts, interior parts, and much more. Seats are upholstered in what looks like original vinyl, dash is place, bumpers in the car, solid interior, and the Trim Tag shows it to be an Ivory car with a straw/black interior. Take a look at the original photo ad that we found that shows you what this 55 Sedan Delivery would look like when you returned it to the colors as it came from the factory.
Availability The 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery Project car we have at Skyway Classics is just the car if you want to build one back to your tastes or a quality restoration. Come see it today.
