The program began in 1966 with the establishment of the Hertz Sports Car Club and by 1969 just 5%, only 152 cars, were Hertz-bound and part of an exceedingly rare group.

It rides on Goodyear Polyglass GT Tires and the factory Shelby chrome styed steel wheels to give it that factory Shelby appearance and ride.
