Under the hood there of our BMW is the same superb inline-6 engine as in the BMW 3 Series. It is a naturally aspirated 230-horsepower version backed by a six-speed automatic transmission.

In performance testing it can go from zero to 60 mph in 6.7-second time with gas mileage being EPA-estimated fuel economy 18/27/21 mpg.

It stops on a dime and handles well with its antilock disc brakes, traction, and stability control and has front-seat side airbags that extend higher to protect occupants' heads and our convertible also features pop-up rollover hoops.

Interior

Out tan interior boasts twin front bucket seats with matching rear seats with a ton of features including cruise control, eight-way manual front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, premium upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-speaker stereo with a CD player, HD radio and iPod connectivity, a fully lined power-folding automatic soft top and a special convertible mode for the climate control.

Although the BMW 1 Series is a four-seater and the trunk holds 8.5 cubic foot of cargo when the top is stowed.

Exterior

There is just something about a grey BMW with a pure black top that makes it look very rich and the alloy wheels look incredibly sporty.
