1953 Dodge M37 Military Truck
Why This Vehicle is Special
If you served in the U.S. armed forces around the time of the Korean conflict and into the late 1960s, or know somebody who did, that they will remember this vehicle!
The Dodge M37 3⁄4-ton 4x4 truck like we have here at Skyway Classics, was Dodge's follow-up to their successful WC Series from World War II. Introduced in 1951, it was used extensively by the United States armed forces during the Korean war.

Mechanical
This 1953 M37 has been treated to a restoration and is a 4-wheel drive U.S. Military three-quarter-ton cargo unit. Powered by the T245 model L-head 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission, it features a canvas soft top, bed-mounted spare, and passenger-mounted auxiliary fuel can.
The engine in this M37 is a Dodge L-head straight-six displacing 230 cubic inches and was rated by Chrysler at 78 horsepower. The engine is mated to a four-speed transmission, powering all four wheels via a transfer case.
The shifting can require some effort based on the unsynchronized transmission that was standard to the M37 and the engine bay appears stock
Interior
The interior looks as it did back then too and is upholstered with the proper cloth seat covers and is equipped with the factory black steering wheel, metal dashboard presents as original and has a central gauge cluster with all the instruments.
Each windshield can be tilted out for venting or fully folded forward with the soft top removed and, just like it came back in 1953, there is no carpeting, radio or heat.
Exterior
This M37 has been painted in what it came with, olive drab green and appears as it did back then with the headlamps, grill guard, front black H.D bumper, winch, fog lights, side bed rails, spare tire in the bed, side mirrors, and huge black painted military type wheels and black sidewall tires giving it the right look and stance from that era.
Conclusion
This restored Dodge M37 3⁄4-ton 4x4 truck we have here at Skyway Classics is astonishing. It has the reputation that it could a go almost completely underwater without issues, seemed like they could climb walls, and served American troops well throughout the Korean Conflict.
This M37 is a remarkable tribute to a true American wartime vehicle and would be right at home in any Memorial Day or Veterans Day parade.
