1964 Plymouth Fury Convertible
Why This Car Is Special
The 1964 Plymouth Fury we have at Skyway Classics is a great example of what a top-of-the-line Fury came with as it has a big 426 Street Wedge V8 engine, four-on-the-floor, and a terrific copper/copper combination. This is what Mopar dreams were made of back in 1964.
Mechanical
But we know the best part of this Fury is the 426 cubic-inch Street Wedge V8 stuffed in-between the fenders in the immaculate engine bay. It is a real 426 Street Wedge with the casting numbers showing V 42 on the front of the engine. (See pics.)
The 426 Wedge was the bad daddy until the vaunted Hemi was built and put in these cars. Ours has a chrome polished factory air cleaner assembly, chrome valve covers, four-barrel carburetor, factory long tube cast iron exhaust, dual exhaust, blue painted engine block and intake, power steering, power brakes, and backed by a four-speed manual transmission.
You know these Fury's are rare, and the 426 was the top dog, and ours has the right look and stance as it rolls on chrome Plymouth 5-spoke mag wheels and raised white letter BF Goodrich T/A radials tires.
Our Fury has a great smooth ride thanks to factory torsion bar suspension and handles better than it did new and it shows only 17k miles on what we believe to be true milage.
Interior
Ours has a copper color interior with the power front seat, matching rear seat, factory steering wheel, big bright four-gauge panel with a tach, accessory gauges below, chrome 4-speed shifter white cue ball, copper colored carpet, floor mats and door panels.
The Fury also has an AM/FM radio, a new brown convertible top, and you will be hard pressed to find another car that looks this good today.
Exterior
The copper-colored hue of this car is exactly the kind of presentation you want to have on a classic Fury and it proves it to you the moment the sunshine hits it. The bodywork is in excellent condition with straight-edge styling, great brightwork, and chrome bumpers.
Conclusion
This 1964 Plymouth Fury Convertible we have at Skyway Classics with the big 426 Street Wedge V8 engine is a fine blend of performance and luxury that Chrysler meant to be a little more refined than the product being offered down the street by the Dodge boys.
It is a rare and fast classic large car ride that you can drive and enjoy now and surely will attract a lot of attention wherever you go.
