1970 Chevrolet Corvette
Why This Car Is Special
When most car enthusiasts dream about owning Corvettes, they think “Big Block” Corvettes. They didn't get any bigger than the 1970 LS5 454 Cubic Inch Big Block engine!
We can fulfill your Corvette dream right here at Skyway Classics with this great 1970 stunning red over red 454 Corvette coupe on our showroom floor.
The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette's had relatively low production because of a labor dispute that started in May of 1969. This dispute caused the 1969 production run to be stretched 4 months and the 1970 run to be cut short.
When most enthusiasts think about buying a Corvettes, they would like to find rare ones. Well, the 1970 Chevrolet Corvette we have here at Skyway Classics is one is very rare not only because of the low number built, but because it came from the factory in this 974 paint code and 407n interior code stunning red/red color combo plus it has the big block with air and a 4-speed transmission too.
Mechanical
The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette's engine was enlarged to its largest displacement ever at 454 Cubic Inch that pumps out over 390 horsepower, and is verified by the engine pad stamping of CZU and vin number to be the original engine, with its factory intake, 4-barrel carb, factory correct twin-snorkel air cleaner, factory cast iron exhaust headers flowing into the side exhaust, 4-speed transmission, and putting all that power to the ground via a Posi rear end.
It is by far the most tractable big-engine Corvette made, it idles fairly smoothly at 600 rpm but from outside the car there's still that monster rumble to let any and all know this is a big one.
This Corvette came with all the options including the LS5 454 engine, 4-speed, air conditioning, power steering, chrome ignition shielding, fully independent suspension, four-wheel power disc brakes and has been brought back to like new condition with an engine compartment that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. This could easily win a Flight Award at a NCRS Meet.
Interior
Inside there is that great red interior featuring the twin C3 bucket seats that had bolstering, matching door panels, center console and dash, factory Corvette sports steering wheel, the large speedo and tach, and you have a full array of auxiliary readouts just to the side.
This Corvette is comfortable too and has the Chevrolet Logo AM/FM radio, tinted glass, alarm system, as well as T-Tops to enjoy the outside too.
Exterior
The bold red exterior paint color is a great color to have on a Stingray and it looks super flowing over the raised 454 hood and brightly highlighting the crisp lines of the shark-like nose, rounded fenders, and rear deck which has the optional chrome luggage rack.
Our '70 has nicely chromed intricate chrome bumpers, bright rocker panels, and iconic Rally wheels with chrome trim rings and center caps running Cooper Cobra Radial GT Raised White Letter performance tires.
Conclusion
The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette coupe we have here at Skyway Classics is absolutely one of the best classic car values you're going to find. It is very rare, superbly crafted, has plenty of power in its big block engine with great handling, is a great investment, and looks so cool in the red/red color combination.
