The origin of the name, "Super Bee" started out as a "B" Body designation of Chrysler's mid-sized cars, including the Road Runner and Charger. Plymouth's Road Runner sales were enough to have Dodge Division General Manager, Robert McCurry, request a similar model from the Dodge Styling office.

Senior designer, Harvey J. Winn, won a contest within the design branch with the name "Super Bee" and a new logo design based on the Dodge "Scat Pack" Bee medallion became a reality.

Mechanical

The A12 was all about speed and was on a diet of minimal options to keep the weight down. Ours has a special lift-off lightweight fiberglass hood with the scoop on top and the chrome hood pins that secured the hood to the body.

The engine in our Super Bee is a much modified 440 cubic-inch V8 engine with the legendary Six Pack on top. This engine has been punched to a huge 505 cubic inch powerhouse with dyno sheets showing 589 horsepower and 619 ft. lbs of torque! We have extensive receipts for so many parts like cam & kit, MSD ignition, dyno work, power steering, air conditioning, Holley carbs, and so much more.

It has the correct Hemi Orange paint on the block, valve covers, and air element that correctly seals to the hood with the famous triple Holley carbs on the Edelbrock hi-rise intake that gave it the name “Six-Pak.”

Backing it up is the equally stout Hemi 4-speed manual transmission that can handle all the power as well as a limited-slip Dana 60 rear end.

Interior

The brand new Legendary black interior features factory bucket seats and black carpet with the stock dash and all the factory gauges, wood steering wheel, as well as the 4-speed shifter in the factory center console.

The Super Bee had a better quality interior than a comparable Road Runner back in the day, and you can tell it with all the period-correct features, like the insignia trim on the front bucket seats, pillarless hardtop, steering wheel and seat belts.

Exterior

Our 1969 Super Bee has had a restoration and repaint on the whole car in Bahama Yellow with the black Super Bee striping and log accented by the black vinyl top are factory-correct, and they have received the right attention so you'll love showcasing them. . The body for the 1969 model year brought few modifications but a new grille with center divider and longitudinal taillights shows off the great paint and classic muscle car lines on ours.

It rides on the chrome 5-spoke Magnum wheels with the right chrome lug nuts with front and rear black sidewall Pirelli Scorpion performance tires and has a great look and stance like when it was new.

The sound is great with the exhaust flowing into the dual exhaust system and believe me it can back up the look and sounds when you open up those three carbs and feel the power kick in.
