1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner
Why This Ca Is Special
The Ford Starliner was a fastback version of in Galaxie line of full-size Fords in 1960 and1961. It utilized the high-level Galaxie trim, however the Galaxie name on the trunk lid was replaced by Starliner script.
The restored and like new 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner that we have for sale here at Skyway Classics, has the thin roof pillars, fastback styling and slippery aerodynamics that made a suitable platform for NASCAR teams to build their race cars. They were produced in limited numbers and due to their racing applications few survivors like ours exist today.
Our 1961 has had a complete powertrain conversion done to replicate those NASCAR and drag racing legends as it now has a potent two 4-barrel 427 cubic inch big block Ford engine in its bay.
Mechanical
That hot setup in 1961 was the two 4-barrel 427 cubic inch big block Ford engine and ours has been modified with all the right parts including the addition of a big block 427 "Top Oiler" cubic inch engine under the hood built by Southern Automotive Engines of McDonough, Ga, topped by a twin 600 CFM 4-barrel performance Holley carbs, Edelbrock Performer aluminum cylinder heads, an aluminum intake, performance spark plug wires, MSD ignition and box, polished aluminum finned and 427 logo vale covers, 427 logo open air cleaner, aluminum exhaust headers and dual exhaust side-pipe system, air conditioning, Top Loader 4-speed transmission, and all sitting in a very nice, clean and detailed engine compartment, with even the red ”See Clear” windshield washer fluid bag on the passenger inner fender.
It has all the correct plumbing, hoses, wires, and engine parts and looks as nice as it sounds. It is shifted by a Ford Top Loader 4-speed manual gearbox that handles the big block's horsepower and out the Ford 9" Positraction HD rear end.
Interior
Our Ford has had a full restored two-tone black and red interior including in factory fashion the front bench seat with matching rear seat, door panels, custom steering wheel, and red dash with all the correct gauges, aftermarket accessory gauges under the a/c unit, center console, black carpeting and Ford 427 logo floormats, Ford logo radio, air conditioning, and the floor-mounted 4-speed shifter.
Even the headliner and the trunk area is super neat and shows well with its factory looking trunk mats, spare tire and jack.
Exterior
The Starliner's unmistakable pillarless fastback silhouette and signature Ford styling remain intact and beautifully finished in black with the correct chrome and bright metal adornments.
The chrome bumpers with the black and chrome grill make for a great appearance and the car's low stance and Firestone Indy 500 raised white letter tires on custom chrome 5-spoke mag wheels give it as great stance.
All body panels line up and doors are straight and true and this car rides great with plenty of pep to match the engines great growl.
