We have a nicely restored 1965 Poppy Red Mustang C-Code Fastback here at Skyway Classics that is a very rare 1st generation 1965 with the fastback pony car styling. The long hood and short deck proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition including the Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.
It is an C-Code Mustang as listed in the Vin# and has been repainted the original color of Poppy Red. It has the born with drivetrain, according to the owner, and had the optional 289 cubic inch 4V engine with a 4-Speed Manual transmission.
Mechanical
Our Mustang has the C-Code engine which was a 289 cubic inch engine with @ 200 horsepower but now has more horse with the addition of a performance Holley carb with a chrome open air filter, aluminum intake, modified ignition components, and dual exhaust system.
It also has chrome valve covers on the painted engine, correct hoses and wires, with the engine sitting in a painted and detailed engine compartment all backed up by the 4-speed transmission.
Interior
The interior has a great black Mustang twin front bucket seats with matching black fold-down rear seat, black carpet, floor mats, and door panels, great dash with all the factory instrumentation, radio, black/chrome 3-spoke sport Mustang steering wheel, chrome 4-speed shifter and black shifter ball, and pristine chrome and stainless interior trim.
Exterior
The 1965 Poppy Red paint on our Mustang is very nice and is complimented by all good chrome, 289 and Mustang emblems, correct Ford Mustang chrome wheels, twin-redline performance tires, and great bumpers.
It has chrome dual side mirrors, great glass and trim, and dual exhaust giving it as good a sound as it looks too.
