1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Why This Car Is Special
The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a two-door coupe manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet from 1970 to 2007 model years encompassing six generations. The car was named for the city Monte Carlo in the Principality of Monaco, specifically the ward of Monte Carlo/Spélugues.
The silver 1986 Monte Carlo that we have here at Skyway Classics has equal parts luxury and sporty looks with a loaded interior.
Mechanical Specs
Most of these Montes came with a V6 standard, but under the hood of ours sits the factory correct optional 5.0-liter V8 that we believe to be the original motor to the car. It looks as fresh as the day it was built with all the correct parts like the black factory air cleaner and 305 decal, black valve covers, factory cast iron exhaust headers, power steering and front disc brakes, as well as air conditioning and is backed by 200-4R four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive.
Interior
Inside is one of the cleanest factory interiors we have ever seen on a classic with pillow-top gray cloth seats split bucket seats, fold-down center armrest, and plenty of comfort features such as cruise control, tilt wheel, electric rear defogger, the original AM/FM/cassette stereo and a Sirius system under the center of the dash, air conditioning, clean dash with a sporty round gauge panel to complete this luxury and performance image.
Exterior
While these fourth-gen coupes have always looked quite striking with their long hood and short deck appeal, this one really brought the design together with the flush headlights, moon roof, and revised rear make this a more distinctive cruiser.
The silver paint has the kind of sharp appearance that makes this Monte Carlo look sweet and the all the bright trim and grey and chrome factory 5-spoke mag wheels on blackwall tires give it the perfect stance.
Conclusion
The 1986 Monte Carlo we have here at Skyway Classics is a great piece of Chevrolet car history, and ours looks, drives, and feels the same as it did when it was new in 1986.
