Why This Car Is Special
We have a real-deal 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS here at Skyway Classics with a correct modified engine and drivetrain, that not only looks great but goes great too.
Mechanical
The heart of this Chevelle is a 327 cubic inch engine with a GM block that has a casting number of #3782870 which was used as an option on Chevrolet SS models and even on the Corvettes for several years back then. We believe it to be the original motor as the block is date-coded to 1965.
The engine has a bright orange painted block and matching valve covers with correct decals, Holley double-pumper four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock hi-rise aluminum intake, chrome open element air cleaner, tube headers, and dual exhaust.
It now runs an aftermarket Tremec TKO 600 five-speed transmission to give it an extra gear for cruising, but we have the original 4-speed that goes with it too, and the suspension has been upgraded with four-wheel disc brakes, modern Hankook tires, power steering, sway bars front & rear, plus a 12-bolt Posi rear end.
Interior
The incredible looking interior features beautiful black bucket seats, the correct SS center console, dual spoke steering wheel, correct factory dash with all the factory gauges and an auxiliary gauge with a Bosch tach, and the chrome shifter in the console. It also has the matching rear seat, black carpeting and floor mats, great door panels and headliner, as well as all the stainless and trim that makes this interior pop.
Exterior
The new paint on it is Madeira Maroon that gives it a great look with its straight sheet metal, clean lines, chrome side moldings, black-trim grille, and fender badges, it looks just right.
As we said earlier, this is a true SS with the #13837-code telling you that is a Super Sport model. It looks the part too as it rides on factory steel wheels with SS wheel covers and blackwall radials tires.
